Mar Ivanios College (Autonomous) Hosts IGNOU Induction Programme for New Learners of the January 2026 Admission Cycle
Thiruvananthapuram, Aug. 1: More than 2000 learners participated in the IGNOU Induction Programme for the January 2026 Admission Cycle of the IGNOU Study Centre (Code: 40043), Mar Ivanios College (Autonomous), Thiruvananthapuram, held on Saturday, 1st August at the College Auditorium.
The programme commenced with a welcome address by Dr. Suju C. Joseph, Coordinator of the IGNOU Study Centre. Prof. (Dr.) Meera George, Principal of Mar Ivanios College (Autonomous), presided over the function. In her presidential address, she highlighted the importance of lifelong learning and encouraged the learners to make the best use of IGNOU's flexible and inclusive higher education system for their academic advancement and career development.
The programme was inaugurated by Very Rev. Fr. Thomas Kayyalackal, Vicar General, Major Archdiocese of Trivandrum & Bursar of the College. In his inaugural address, he emphasized the value of continuous learning and urged students to make effective use of the opportunities provided by IGNOU to achieve academic excellence and career success.
Delivering the keynote address, Dr. T. R. Satyakeerthy, Regional Director, IGNOU Regional Centre, Thiruvananthapuram, explained the academic framework of IGNOU and motivated the learners to actively engage with the University's learner support services. Dr. Abhilash G. Ramesh, Assistant Coordinator, IGNOU Study Centre, Mar Ivanios College (Autonomous) offered felicitations.
Ms. Gayathri Sankar, Student Representative, addressed the gathering and shared her experiences, inspiring the newly admitted learners to make the most of the opportunities offered by IGNOU.
Mr. Manasse Benny led an interactive question-and-answer session, clarifying learners' queries on admissions, assignments, examinations, and student support services.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Rev. Fr. Thomas Puthenparambil, Assistant Coordinator of the IGNOU Study Centre, who expressed gratitude to the dignitaries, faculty members, staff, and the large gathering of learners for making the induction programme a grand success.
The enthusiastic participation of over 2000 learners reflected the growing popularity of IGNOU programmes in the region and reaffirmed the Study Centre's commitment to providing quality learner support.
